Cable Damascus & Pattern DamascusDamascus cable: The above PIC is of 7 logging cables welded. Logging Cable is harvested in the woods near my shop in Oregon. I also buy cable at scrap yards or get cable ends from rigging companies. The cable is cut into 15-18" lengths, these sections are then heated and fluxed to remove debris and begin to weld the strands together. The cables are pressed using 60,000# in a hydraulic press. Single cables yield bold patterns. Multiple cables have a finer grain. Multiple cables forged on end give dramatic, beautiful patterns.
